Saint Simon’s Island Lighthouse

This plein air painting of the St. Simons Island Lighthouse captures one of my favorite memories from living on the island in the late '90s. Painted on location in the spring of 1996, it reflects the charm, light, and coastal beauty that make St. Simons unforgettable. In the distance, a shrimp boat drifts by and the Sidney Lanier Bridge can be seen under construction — a fleeting moment in time, preserved in paint.

The lighthouse holds a special place in my heart — I loved attending the Little Lights Music Concert Series, setting up folding chairs and tables beneath a magnificent 200-year-old Southern Red Cedar on the lighthouse lawn as musicians played from the gazebo.
