This drawing continues an observational study of a mature live oak in Forsyth Park, shifting from an exterior view of the tree to a position directly beneath its canopy. Working in charcoal, the composition compresses spatial depth into a vertical field of branches, Spanish moss, and filtered light, emphasizing enclosure rather than distance.
Seen from below, the structure of the tree becomes architectural—interwoven limbs and hanging moss forming a layered interior space shaped by light and density rather than horizon. The work records a physical shift in perspective, from viewing the tree as object within a landscape to experiencing it as an environment overhead.
Executed in charcoal on paper and offered as a giclée print on archival paper, this study preserves the tonal variation and atmospheric depth of the original drawing, intended for interior spaces that value quiet complexity and spatial awareness.
